MAROC DATACENTER : 1st Cloud Computing platform in francophone Africa

• 100% Moroccan data centre designed to meet the TIER III standard • A project carried out in partnership with Morocco SME as part of the Imtiaz programme

The Moroccan multi-subsidiary company MEDAFRICA SYSTEMS (MEDASYS), specializing in high added value IT services, inaugurated, at the 19th September 2017 at Temara, the MAROC DATACENTER, the first Cloud Computing platform in francophone Africa on a 100% Moroccan site, designed according to the TIER III standard.



The official ceremony was chaired by the Secretary of State to the Minister of Industry, Investment, Trade and the Digital Economy, in charge of investment, Mr Othman El Ferdaous, in the presence of national and international partners of the group and a number of distinguished guests.

This project, initiated and funded in partnership with Morocco SME as part of the Imtiaz programme, is the first development of MEDASYS Group as part of its development strategy for the creation of data centres in Morocco and Africa."Our ambition is to contribute to progress and technological growth from Morocco to Africa and the world, through its position as a regional technology hub," said Mr Mohammed BENMIRA, Director General of Maroc Datacentre.

By stressing the expertise of the Moroccan engineers who have worked on the design of this datacentre, Mr Othmane El Ferdaous affirmed that “its installation is part of the emergence of a powerful technological ecosystem in Morocco, sustainably supported by the Morocco Digital 2020 Plan which aims to make Morocco one of the three most competitive countries of the MENA region for IT infrastructures and business environments”.

MAROC DATACENTRE will form the nucleus of a technological ecosystem with a strong economic impact, as it will be a production platform for cross-functional managed services aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises, large companies, public administrations and self-entrepreneurs, through Marketplaces dedicated to strengthening the ecosystems and relationship between large companies and SMEs.This digital transformation will promote the emergence and digital inclusion of a generation of high added value SMEs.

This project is the crowning achievement of the 20 years expertise and know-how of the Moroccan engineers of the MEDASYS Group, who have worked to create a data centre designed according to international standards in terms of safety and availability, and meeting the needs of public and private Moroccan companies.

MEDASYS firmly intends to keep this momentum going. On the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony, and as part of an ambitious development plan, the Group launched an important strategic partnership with ZIRCOM Group, leader in the construction and operation of data centres in the United Kingdom.The two partners plan to create a joint venture to set up a Moroccan International Gateway Data Center for the Moroccan and African markets, with an investment of more than 800 million dirhams.
