Foreign trade: Announcement issued at the ministerial meeting between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Kingdom of Morocco

As part of the strengthening of fraternal cooperation relations and the distinguished economic and commercial partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Arab Republic of Egypt, a joint meeting was held in Rabat under the chairmanship of Mr Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr Omar Hejira, Secretary of State to the Minister of Industry and Trade, in charge of Foreign Trade of the Kingdom of Morocco, and Dr Hassan El Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

During the meeting, the ministers recalled the historic bonds of friendship and brotherhood between the two countries, and the importance of strengthening these foundations through more effective bilateral cooperation.


They also stressed the importance of strengthening trade relations between the two brotherly countries on the basis of the promising trade and investment opportunities available in both countries, and the various preferential legal frameworks that unite them.
 

In this regard, the Secretary of State indicated that: “During this visit, a series of fruitful talks took place, during which both parties discussed the current figures and future prospects for trade relations between the two countries, with the emphasis on overcoming the trade balance deficit we are observing today. The talks revealed the strong willingness of the Egyptian brothers, as it was emphasized that a visit by Moroccan exporters to the Arab Republic of Egypt is scheduled to take place in the coming weeks. This initiative is in line with the strengthening of trade relations and the development of exports, in particular Moroccan car exports, in order to reinforce bilateral cooperation and the integration of economic advantages”.

For his part, the Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Dr. Hassan Al-Khatib, declared that his visit to the Kingdom of Morocco was due to the good relations between the two countries. The Minister added that the meeting aimed to reconcile points of view and reorganize issues related to bilateral trade between the two brotherly countries in order to facilitate the process of trade exchange between the two countries.

 

Based on the principle of win-win partnership, the Ministers agreed on the following points:

 

  1. Establish a direct line of communication to eliminate obstacles between the two countries by monitoring statistics and obstacles to the achievement of agreed objectives, and finding solutions to eliminate them.
     
  2. Deploy all efforts to increase the volume and number of Moroccan exports to Egypt of Moroccan products, particularly automobiles.
     
  3. Allocate a FAST TRACK on the Egyptian side to facilitate and accelerate access for Moroccan exports.
     
  4. Organize a B2B economic and commercial partnership forum in specific sectors to encourage the establishment of commercial partnerships and business networks between the private sector communities of the two countries, in the Arab Republic of Egypt in April 2025.   
     
  5. Activate the business council.
     
  6. Preparing the convocation for the Joint Trade Committee.

 

The two sides also emphasized the need for continued joint and direct coordination on various issues of common interest, and the importance of establishing joint investment projects, particularly in the industrial field.
