The Canadian CGI establishes itself at Fes Shore

The Canadian group CGI, global player in information technology services, opened on Tuesday 20 February 2018 its third centre of excellence at the Fes Shore Park in Fes.

The ceremony took place in the presence of Mr Youssef El Bari, Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Investment, Trade and Digital Economy, Ms Nathalie Dubé, the Canadian ambassador to Morocco, and Mr Michel Baticle, President of CGI France-Luxembourg-Morocco.

 

CGI technologies employs currently in Morocco more than 950 professionals at its three sites, and aims for the Fez site to create 250 to 300 jobs by 2019. The positions are of a highly skilled nature as IT engineers occupy over 70% of the jobs.

On this occasion Mr Youssef El Bari welcomed the establishment of CGI in Fes, emphasising that “with this new centre of excellence, CGI is positioning itself as a major player for digital services in Fes and thus supports the approach initiated by the Ministry, aimed at promoting the development of prosperous regional economic hubs, creators of employment and wealth. The project also supports the move upmarket of a growing market for the national economy and contributes to the strengthening of the ecosystems set up, particularly the activities of ESO (Engineering Services Outsourcing).” he added.

CGI, which aims to pursue its investments in Morocco to support the growing needs of its customers in France, Europe and North America, contributes indeed to the development of information systems outsourcing and digital transformation. This expansion strategy will result in the development of high technology skills through the strengthening of Moroccan expertise in application services, infrastructure and support, as well as the economic development of territories through job creation at the CGI sites in Rabat, Casablanca and Fes.

Present in about 40 countries, with 72,500 employees and a turnover of 7.5 billion euros in 2017, CGI is considered the 5th most important independent company in the world for information technology services and the management of business processes. The CGI group has been present in Morocco since 2014 with its Centre of Excellence in Rabat.
