The trade and distribution sector is dominated by the presence of convenience stores. These local businesses are the main consumer goods distribution channel and represents for this sector 58% turnover, 36% jobs and 80% sales outlets.
Nevertheless, the development of convenience stores activity depends on enhancement of its business model through the introduction of new sales technics, the development of more attractive offers and cost control of the business.
In this regard, the Ministry has carried out a support program to convenience stores modernization projects. These projects, designed by the sector’s stakeholders, aim to ensure a standard level of quality, health and safety meeting the consumers’ expectations, to improve the attractiveness and the embellishment of the sales outlets and to develop and strengthen traders’ know-how.
This program contributed to the financing of the sales outlets expertise, the acquisition and the setting up of the necessary equipment to modernize the sales facilities and providing the traders with trainings on management and sales technics and health and safety standards.
More than 25.780 traders benefited from this program, spread out in various regions of the Kingdom.
