Aerospace: Five students will represent Morocco at the final of Usaire Student Awards 2018

Five students from three Moroccan universities and engineering schools will participate in the final phase of the Usaire Student Awards 2018, an international competition aimed at bringing together students from around the world on a prospective subject related to the aerospace and defence industry.



The list of finalist was announced at a conference-workshop organized on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, in Rabat by the Ministry of Industry, Investment, Trade and Digital Economy, in collaboration with Rolls-Royce France and the Usaire association (Association of United States and European Aerospace Industry Representatives).

The conference, chaired by Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Minister of Industry, Investment, Trade and Digital Economy, was held in the presence of the President of GIMAS, the representative of Rolls-Royce France, directors of universities and engineering schools and professionals from the sector.

On this occasion, Mr. Elalamy congratulated all the participating students and institutions as well as the finalists who demonstrated ingenuity and creativity. "We strongly encourage our young talents to focus more on this dynamic sector which has great potential for innovation and is full of countless opportunities."

The objective of this conference, which reflects the Ministry's continuous support for innovation in the aerospace sector, is mainly to create a community of young Moroccan aeronautics talents and to facilitate their connection with the business world. "Bringing together young people and the industrial fabric will undoubtedly create fruitful synergies around innovative projects," said the Minister.

The present edition of the competition recorded the first participation of Morocco with a strong delegation; with 25 registered teams (1/3 of all registered teams). 15 teams were selected for the finals, including three Moroccan teams.

The finalist teams representing Morocco are composed of three Moroccan students and two Malagasy students. They represent the AEROSUP School of Casablanca (Fanomezantso Michael RASOANAIVO and Sitraka Tsiriniaina RAKOTONANDRASANA), the Ecole Centrale of Casablanca (Hanane SAMANE and Asmaa KHANNAFOUR) and the ENSA of Agadir (Nouhaila HAGGOUCHI).

The winners of the contest will benefit from coaching and internships and will be invited to visit large groups such as Rolls-Royce, Airbus Group...
