6th National Consumer days

How to buy online with confidence
The Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment and the Digital Economy, Mr. Moulay Hafid Elalamy, chaired on 14 March 2016, in Rabat, the opening seminar of the 6th National Consumer days, organized in commemoration of the World Consumer Rights Day, celebrated on March 15 of each year.

The National Consumer Rights Days, will take place from 14th to 18th of March 2016 in many cities throughout the country, have become an annual major event with the consumption actors. Organised in close collaboration with partners such as the Consumer Protection Associations and the Ministries concerned by the enforcement of law n° 31-08, enacting the measures for the protection of consumers, National Consumer Days will be an opportunity to communicate on multiple advances in the field and the role of all stakeholders in the implementation of the regulations.
The theme of this year’s edition is: "How to buy online with confidence". Given the constant evolution of e-commerce in Morocco and worldwide, the event mainly aims to present the legal, regulatory and technical aspects related to the protection of consumers online, as provided for by law 31-08.

The Minister stressed that Law No. 31-08 encourages e-commerce sites to communicate to consumers, in a clear and transparent way relevant information concerning the identity and activities of the supplier, and those relating to the features of the products and services sold online and the process of ordering and payment. The aim is to guarantee the online consumer the same rights as those enjoyed by the traditional consumer.

This meeting was also an occasion to review all the efforts and the progress made in the field of consumer protection. In this regard, the Minister Elalamy highlighted in particular the launch, this year, of a financial support scheme by the Ministry of Industry, Trade, Investment and the Digital Economy, in favour of the consumer protection federations in order to enable them to fully play their role of guidance and assistance of the Moroccan consumer.
